Biometric Longread List: What’s Happening in AI and Biometrics (Christmas 2022 Update)
A lot has happened this year in biometric and AI fields. Everything is now (or very soon will ...
Read moreInnovatrics has joined forces with AI chipmaker, Hailo, to develop energy-efficient and ready-to-deploy facial recognition solutions for access control and public security use cases. The collaboration aims to simplify the deployment of state-of-the-art computer vision and facial recognition technology for accurate and real-time identification through on-edge or on-chip processing.
Configuring SmartFace Embedded to fully support Hailo-8™, the jointly developed system can process biometric operations directly on the chip with the performance of a regular server GPU. Depending on the application and existing camera resolution, SmartFace Embedded can support 4 and up to 6 video streams in parallel while processing intensive facial recognition operations including face detection, template extraction and matching directly on the chip. Our proprietary facial recognition algorithm enables a camera to pre-process a video stream and perform face matching through edge-to-cloud computing with unrivaled accuracy.
A single Hailo-8™ chip delivers unprecedented performance to edge devices. With its cutting-edge architecture, the Hailo-8™ chip allows edge devices to run the Innovatrics proprietary facial recognition algorithm and perform face matching with unrivaled accuracy, without compromising on privacy and with utmost reliability. Combined with Innovatrics’ SmartFace Embedded, it gives users the flexibility to implement their solutions at a small footprint and low power consumption while maintaining better control over system compute capacity. The solution is scalable and allows the management of multiple concurrent streams, in medium to large venues such as stadiums, ski resorts, and office buildings.
“Working with Innovatrics was a great experience for us”, says Mark Grobman, ML CTO of Hailo. “Their machine learning excellence, combined with their high-level of business expertise, enabled us to achieve a very fast time to market with this affordable and scalable solution. We were able to demonstrate linear scalability of the solution to several dozens of streams processed in parallel using the state-of-the-art technology of Innovatrics”.
Given the success of the joint Innovatrics-Hailo solution, we have similarly cooperated with industrial computer and embedded field leader, Axiomtek, to support Hailo-8™ embedded with AI box RSC101. With such an AI box, system integrators can accrue significant savings since there is no need for a powerful server to process camera streams centrally.
Moreover, such a device can support 2-3 turnstiles or speed gates (2 cameras each entry) for access control management in stadiums, ski resorts, or office buildings. “These AI boxes can also make existing legacy security cameras to become smart and run biometric operations directly on the network edge without having to replace them for new smart cameras” adds Robert Izak, Business Development / Product Marketing Lead at Innovatrics.
Get to know our solutions more and don’t miss the Innovatrics and Hailo teams at CES on January 5-8, 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Experts from Hailo will be presenting Innovatrics SmartFace Embedded with the full edge-to-cloud SmartFace ecosystem. To schedule a meeting click here.
