Innovatrics DOT Now Supports Traditional Chinese Character Reading on Identity Documents

With demand for secure and accurate remote identity verification technology growing in Asia, Innovatrics has responded to the needs of our partners by adding traditional Chinese to the list of character sets supported by its Digital Onboarding Toolkit (DOT). 

Training our optical character recognition (OCR) algorithm to recognize traditional Chinese characters was particularly challenging, as there are over 50,000 characters. The first identity document supported is the Hong Kong national ID card.

Training additional documents with Chinese characters is a straightforward process. Our neural network requires just a few sample documents in order to train a fast and highly accurate library to recognize and read any identity document. 

This latest addition means that Innovatrics Digital Onboarding Toolkit now supports Latin, Cyrillic, Arabic, Bengali, and traditional Chinese character sets. We now believe that there is no character set in the world that cannot be recognized and processed by our computer vision algorithm.
