In 2005, Thai authorities started issuing new Thai National ID Cards for more than 64 million Thai Nationals. These new smart ID cards contain the fingerprint data to physically bind the card to the owner and verify the identity of the holder when receiving government services or entitlements, or by transacting private businesses such as applying for a job or opening a bank account. The main purpose of the rollout was to prevent identity theft, forgery and reduce the risk of fraud.
In 2014, Innovatrics was contracted by Control Data (Thailand) Ltd. to deliver the Innovatrics AFIS solution in order to support the national identity card program by performing fingerprint verification (1:1) of Thai citizens. We deployed our software on 300 servers to provide faster and more accurate fingerprint matching and fingerprint quality evaluation directly on the server. Our software works with a database of more than 120 million fingerprints.
In order to achieve the best performance of our AFIS solution, Innovatrics team of specialists was sent to Thailand to provide professional training and an on-site deployment, which significantly smoothened the integration process.
