Read moreAs digital advancements continue to revolutionize our lives, the threat of deep fakes and synthetic identity fraud is correspondingly getting more sophisticated. To keep organizations and their customers protected, Innovatrics is introducing Video Injection Attack Detection to stay one step ahead in the ongoing fight against identity fraud.
According to an ID Analytics study, synthetic identity fraud constitutes a staggering 80-85% of all identity fraud, with the volume of incidents surging by 132% in 2022. Moreover, the incidence of deepfake fraud in North America more than doubled from 2022 to Q1 2023. These alarming trends require robust measures to protect individuals and organizations from these fraudulent activities.
To combat identity fraud in remote onboarding, biometric face verification confirms a user’s identity by comparing their selfie with their ID portrait. At the same time, liveness detection ensures the user is present and alive during the process. More and more, fraudsters are employing video injection spoof attacks, fueling the rise in synthetic identity fraud, to deceive identity verification systems. The process involves injecting fake videos into the remote identity verification process using various methods, including emulation and virtual cameras, physical replacement of phone cameras, hacking apps, and man-in-the-middle attacks.
By leveraging our advanced in-house algorithms, Innovatrics Video Injection Attack Detection can detect the authenticity of the camera used during identity verification and guard against man-in-the-middle attacks, assuring that the user is authenticating at the moment in real time. Our capture component on the client side not only gets the video frame from the camera but also the camera details. The data is encrypted and then evaluated on the server. With the ability to identify genuine physical cameras and protect against video injection spoofs, our partners and end customers can now enjoy heightened security during remote identity verification processes.
